About the project
Our Christmas project for 2021 was O Magnum Mysterium by celebrated American composer, Morten Lauridsen. We were delighted to bring the year to a close with what Lauridsen describes as a “quiet song of profound inner joy”.
Rehearsals for this project began in October 2021 and submissions closed in November 2021. The final performance was released on 22nd December 2021 and features contributions from nearly 1000 singers.
Unique to this project, we also invited singers to submit short home video clips which expressed what ‘family’ means to them – biological, extended, adopted, or found; a family reunion or special occasion; a place or landscape they associate with their closest friends and loved ones. We received over 350 family clips in total, and incorporated as many as we could into this special final video.
